Treatment time

During your treatment the skin is thoroughly cleansed and prepared. A professional SkinPen device is used to treat the skin with precision and control, the sensation is often described as a mild scratching or vibrating feeling (numbing cream will be applied prior to treatment).

Redness for 24-48 hours

Downtime & Recovery

You may feel mild discomfort, stinging sensation, warmth or tightness within the first 24 hours. Mild flaking or dryness will occur around days 2–4. Most clients return to normal activities within 24 hours, with makeup usually suitable after 24–48 hours, depending on skin sensitivity.

Your skin will appear red immediately after treatment, similar to mild sunburn, this is a normal and expected response.

To ensure the best possible results, we recommend the following preparation:
  • Avoid retinol, acids and exfoliating products for 5–7 days before treatment
  • Topical Tretintoin must be stopped at least 2 weeks before treatment
  • Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds and fake tan for at least 7 days
  • Do not have injectables, chemical peels or laser treatments in the treatment area for 2–4 weeks prior
  • Stay well hydrated in the days leading up to your appointment
  • Arrive with clean skin, free from makeup

How to Prepare for Your SkinPen® Treatment

Proper aftercare is essential to protect your skin and maximise results:
✔ Keep skin clean and well hydrated
✔ Use only recommended gentle skincare products
✔ Avoid makeup, exercise, saunas, steam rooms and swimming for 24-48 hours.
✔ Do not touch or pick the skin 
✔ Restrict contact with pets and polluted environments 
✔ Use a clean pillowcase & towels
✔ Avoid sun exposure and always wear SPF 30–50
✔ Avoid retinol, acids, exfoliants and active skincare for 5-7 days 

Your skin will continue to improve over the following weeks as collagen production increases, with optimal results seen after a course of treatments.
